I used to bake from home, but now I work as a baker, so this blog is more a record of what I've done, than what I'm doing now. Please visit me at my new blog though: http://abc-ablebakercharlie.blogspot.com

Smiley
How beautiful do this cake toppers look, laid out with their different colours? I'm definitely feeling inspired to do a 'paintbox' box of cakes... Could even do the cakes with rainbow-coloured batter... anyone want to make an order? ;-)
Am I the only one who wants to write, "acieeeeed"? ...Maybe I'm just showing my age.
6 Smiley cakes for Sam's birthday (Gefeliciteerd, Sam). I was really nervous of attempting such an iconic image, but I think they turned out really nicely.
Vanilla cakes and Vanilla Seed buttercream icing.

Roses Experiments
May 2010
Chocolate and Banana cakes with Chocolate buttercream (which is waaay too rich)
July 2010
Chocolate cakes with Strawberry buttercream.
Looks more like a snail than a rose.
Septermber 2010.
Vanilla cakes with Vanilla Seed buttercream.
Quite happy with these, but they are still a bit frilly. Delicious though :-)
Just been trying these last few months to ice cakes to look like roses. Not some flouncy flowers, though, but graphic, Alice In Wonderland-type ones.
It's obviously all about the icing nozzle, and I still don't have the right one... Yet another trip to the cake decorating shop, I think.
