If you go down to the woods today...

...you might get RSI!

Phew! I've just finished 85 teeny tiny chocolate sponge cakes, decorated with green buttercream 'grass', a fondant icing bear and a little daisy.
I think I've got piping bag elbow: Hope the kids enjoy them tomorrow at the picnic.

Happy Birthday Rosa

I hope this colourful selection of 6 lions, 6 butterflies and 6 ants, brightens up Rosa's rainy birthday.
All the cakes are vanilla flavour and the butterflies are decorated with strawberry buttercream and edible glitter - just perfect for a 3rd birthday party.

Oops there goes another rubber tree plant!

Testing out my new 'grass' nozzle and making some peanut M&Ms ants, means that I've now got that Frank Sinatra song stuck in my head!

My hopes were high, and I think these turned out really nicely. The cakes underneath are meant to be violet flavour: I substituted the vanilla extract with violet syrup, but I don't think I used enough. They are nice, but in no way violety.

The last ant is of the leaf cutter variety. One of Danny's favourite animals: he blames them for any holes on the leaves in the garden.

Happy birthday to me!

A birthday wouldn't be a birthday without chocolate cake (according to Danny, age 3), so he helped me make these Chocolate and Brown Sugar cupcakes. Served with cream and a cherry on top for that Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (that's Black Forest Gateau to you) -vibe.

Thanks for the suggestion, Danny. They were delicious!

It’s coming home, it’s coming home, it’s coming…

June 2010. Two dozen cakes for Brian’s world cup party: a mixture of vanilla and chocolate cupcakes, iced with English (natch) strawberry buttercream and decorated with flags, footballs and football pitches.

I threw some football-shaped chocolate sweets into the boxes too.

Oreo so good

June 2010. Dave loves a baked cheesecake. In fact he makes one about every fortnight. So I thought that since I was visiting, I’d take some chilled Oreo Cookies and Cream baked cheesecake/cupcakes with me.

The cakes have a whole Oreo cookie as the base, and then more crumbled into the mix- yum! (thanks for the recipe, Martha Stewart).

Update: I'm not sure if Dave actually saw this as a challenge: before we'd even finished these, he started baking one of his own!

Adjö, Farväl!

June 2010. Goodbye to our lovely Swedish friends. I thought I’d send them on their way back home with a belly full of Chocolate & Brown Sugar cupcakes with English strawberry buttercream.

Check out my new stickers too :-)
